To install, download either RetroArch_3dsx.7z or RetroArch_cia.7z, then extract RetroArch folder to the root of your SD card (RetroArch.cia anywhere else), to install cores use FBI installer. You can find the installation pack, assets and cores here. Options for decreasing input latency related to vsync by eliminating buffering by the video driver, as well as using frame delay to delay polling of inputs until right before a vsync occurs on the display.GGPO-like netplay (latency hiding rollback).Supports audio DSP filter plugins through.Pixel shaders, primarily using Cg and GLSL, with HLSL on Xbox 360.It supports serialization of the emulation state which is used to provide real-time rewind and netplay. ![]() Basic fast forward, SRAM saving, savestate, etc.Dynamic rate control for smooth audio and video, even when the game's output rate is different from your system.Custom resolution and refresh rate for video output, with exclusive fullscreen mode and monitor index for multi-monitor setups.Per-core and per-game configuration overrides.Gamepad auto-configuration profiles, so that gamepads are mapped automatically when connected.Gamepad controlled menu system with multiple styles available, such as XMB or Material UI.Consistency across multiple platforms (same UI structure and a fully featured command line interface).Settings are also unified so configuration is done once and for all, with advanced features like shaders, netplay, rewinding, next-frame response times, runahead. It enables you to run classic games on a wide range of computers and consoles through its slick graphical interface. It is the reference implementation of the libretro API, designed to be fast, lightweight, portable and without dependencies. Pc engine, i can't really say, but i have boths retroarch and bubbles installed just in case, i think they don't run everything perfectly, but between them they get everything running.RetroArch is a free, open-source and cross-platform front-end for emulators, game engines, video games, media players and other applications. Picodrive works well enough on both retorarch and bubbles standalone port too. ![]() on n3ds, it even runs the chip games mostly fullspeed, everything else runs great on both n3ds and o3ds.īoth bubbles nes emulator and retroarchs quicknes work fine. I'd definitely say look for snes9x for o3ds over retroarchs snes cores. but i do remember a crash here and there (not comparable to gpsp though) and a fps dip in some games. Otherwise, it would be the perfect emulator.Īs for the fba cores, they run mostly well. It's been pretty much crashing randomly for as long as its been around. No one seems to have the source code, the ability or the interest to look into it or to write a new one to replace it.Īnd mgba, the 'next best thing' just wants to be accurate and thus, will never reach consistent full speed on anything but stuff like bubble bobble. Unfortunately, gpsp has like, one bug hidden in its dynamic recompiler that causes random crashes. Also, how do the PCE-Fast and Genesis Plus GX cores run? If there are any standalone emulators that are better than what Retroarch can offer, I'd be happy to hear about those too. For arcade, I'm aware that there are FBA cores my psp could run neo geo and CPS2 games pretty well, so I'm hoping my 2DS is capable of the same. I've heard that the gpSP core has good speed but is very prone to crashing. I realize the 3DS can run GBA games natively, but emulation has things like savestates and I don't know if GBA VC injects support things like controller remaps I'm also not sure if I want my home menu cluttered with a ton of GBA games. Specifically, for snes, GBA, and arcade emulation. I've always been fond of Retroarch on PC and Wii, and I'm wondering how well it works here and if there's any specific version I should get for the best stability/performance. I'm planning on hacking my New 2DS XL pretty solely for the purpose of turning it into a portable emulation machine. ![]()
